What is Executive Search?

Executive Search Consultant - Recruiter - Headhunter

On the website of Jobadder we find the following definition: (Quote): "... An executive search is an employment search that is undertaken in order to find candidates to fill executive roles, or other positions of equivalent seniority.

This search is usually conducted by executive search firms on behalf of a third party company. The advantage of an executive search being performed by an executive search firm is that the firm can undertake an initial screening of the candidate and confirm if they are suitable for the role and ascertain what their remuneration expectations before putting them in touch with the company.

As executive searches target highly qualified and desirable candidates, ideal candidates are sometimes already employed and are best approached by executive search firms in order to glean information about their interest in leaving their current role for a new opportunity....".

The Belfry Tower

Belgium is a country of many attractions.

We would like to share an article we found on www.visit-bruges.be about the Belfry Tower in Bruges:

The belfry formerly housed a treasury and the municipal archives and served as an observation post for spotting fires and other danger. A narrow, steep staircase of 366 steps, accessible by the public for an entry fee, leads to the top of the 83-meter-high building, which leans about a meter to the east.

The first tower, however, was destroyed by fire in 1280. The present octagonal lantern was added to the tower between 1482 and 1486. The wooden spire that crowned the tower was again destroyed by fire in 1493 and 1741. After the last fire it was never rebuilt. Nowadays, the belfry tower charms the visitor with the lovely music of a carillon, which consists of 47 bells.

Like in most cities of the Low Countries the belfry tower was the place where the important documents of the city were preserved. At the same time such towers were used as watchtowers. Inside hung bells, each bell having a distinct sound and function (e.g.: bells for danger, bells for important announcements, bells to indicate the time, etc.)

There is a possibility to climb the belfry tower, but you should be aware that some passages on the stairs are quite narrow. Only a limited number of people is allowed in the tower at the same time.

Other than chiming out bizarre tunes, the tower provides a panoramic view of Bruges. The view is superb, and it is a must do. Ah yes ... . Besides, there are rest points and benches in between your journey to the top and you'll be met by empathetic fellas like yourself. Once you reach the top, you'll get a 360 deg view of Bruges.

It houses, amongst other things, a carillon with 47 melodious bells. In the reception area, waiting visitors can discover all kinds of interesting information about the history and working of this unique world-heritage protected belfry. Those who take on the challenge of climbing the tower can pause for a breather on the way up in the old treasury, where the city’s charters, seal and public funds were kept during the Middle Ages, and also at the level of the impressive clock or in the carillonneur’s chamber. Finally, after a tiring 366 steps, your efforts will be rewarded with a breath-taking and unforgettable panoramic view of Bruges and her surroundings.
